Trip Cameras! [July 02, 2006 @ 8:04pm]
[ mood | complacent ]

Every time I go on a good trip I like to take at least one disposable camera, just to capture things with the added mystery of not being able to see how they turned out until after they are developed. I took some time and scanned in all the photographs from my 2 trip cameras, one was in black and white. The best ones are here for your viewing pleasure....

kevin's entry [June 11, 2006 @ 8:19pm]
[ mood | calm ]

so we had a lot of interesting moments on this trip and i think those are the ones i'd like to go into. i'll begin with the beginning.

The drive to sam's:
took the 101 to the 1 (through big sur) back to the 101... beautiful drive, but lots and lots and lots of road.
  tawnia's a peeing machine.
  tawnia loves her andy!
o yeah, i unknowingly took many detours trying to find some of the restrooms that were needed so badly.

San Fran, CA:
to get this beatnik bookstore i wanted to visit so badly, we walked through an adult "bookstore", xxx, girls girls girls area of north beach, the only really frightening thing was that a few of these sex shops didn't have doors, so it would be like 'to your right, cars; in front of you, sidewalk; and to your left, o right penises, who would've expected that. (i know what your thinking, but i just thought that most places had doors, you know)

The train ride to Seattle:
there was a man in our car who didn't now how to lower his voice to tell someone that he had to get off the phone because there were people trying to sleep.
the next day, tawnia discovered the lady she had to sit next to relaxing with her feet on tawnia's pillow, ew.
tawnia and i started knitting our scarves.

Seattle, WA:
couldn't figure out the numbering of the rooms at the Edgewater.. it was near 2 am and we were exhausted.
we realized that the restrooms at Pike's Place did not have full height doors. very easy to view into (in both the men's and women's bathrooms.)
i bartered with someone for the first time... sort of... well he bartered with me, but still.
i bought a glass corn on the cob for my friend for graduation.

we unfortunately discovered that the man in the car in front of us on the ferry had a bad porn addiction.
also on the ferry, While trying to help the world by YABing Sam was approached by an uptight monkey of a man, and who then procedded to act like an ass, watching us for most of the ferry ride, so i decided to stare at him for a little bit.
  tawnia finished her scarf.
the jaccuzi at the hotel was boiling pot of water and the pool only 5' deep. it was amusing.
wandered downtown vancouver at 1:30 am and got offered pot. o and yeah, we were carrying peonies and pillows, we looked like helpless fools, so i hid the flowers by the bus depot.
i hailed a cab for the FIRST time in my life. i know it sounds weird, but i was so excited when that cabby immediately pulled over.

The train ride to San Fran:
i was seated next to a terribly drunk man, who was asked to stop drinking w/in the first two or three hours of the train ride. he laughed to himself alot and was generally unpleasant and kept looking at sam.
i finished knitting my scarf, YAY!
(i had train legs the whole next day)

The drive home:
took the 5 all the way home, shorter but smellier too, still a nice drive.
tawnia wasn't as much of a peeing machine... until the end, that is.
  tawnia LOVES her andy!
tawnia left her phone in my car and i left my phone at my mom's house.
(got home by 10:30... had to work from 8-4:45 the next day.)

all in all... it was pretty good trip with lots of beautiful and interesting things.

until later, Kevin

fruity boozy whore [June 01, 2006 @ 10:37pm]
[ mood | apathetic ]

Yes so today is our first in Canada. So far we have spent a day in San Fran, a very long day on a train, a rainy day in Seattle, and, at this very moment, a splendid first day in Vancouver. I am just going to hit the highlights so we can go further in depth as time goes on.

Day One:
Tawnia and Kevin arrived at my house in the early evening. We went shopping, got In-N-Out, and went for a nice ride in the hills. We also rewatched the season finally of Grey's Anatomy. I cried, I think Kevin did as well. Tawnia kicked me.

Day Two:
We woke up early and took showers while waiting for my mother to pick us up and drive us to the BART station. I took an awesome polaroid of Kev and Tawn, I'll scan it in once I get my scanner. We went to Berkeley, which was going to be a surprise for Kevin, but he found out, so it was just a pleasant little trip. He wants to go there, maybe, in a year or two. Then we found our way into the city. We went to Chinatown and bought some of those cheap Chinese trinkets that shine on the shelves before wandering over to City Lights, a famous bookstore and sort of birth place of the Beatnik revolution. Yes, right up Kevin's street. Then onto the train after dinner with my mother. Scattered sleep in the lower car.

Day Three:
Kevin and I got up around 5am and headed to the observation car to just breathe in the nature that surrounded us, mountains, rivers, trees, all that jazz. Tawnia came up and we had a fairly unsatisfying Amtrak breakfast. The rest of the day was a rather long blur of knitting, I taught them how, watching movies, sleeping (for them), and junk food. We got into Seattle 5 hours too late, 1am. Got to the Edgewater and fell into sleep.

Day Four:
Went to Pike's Place for breakfast and shopping, then onto the Space Needle, doing the tourist thing. I gave Kevin's card to a boy, becoming a WingWoman and loving every minute of it. We played a few celebratory games of air hockey then went on a carousel ride. The horses looked demented. As a tie off to our day in Seattle we went on a Ferry ride to on of the islands and came back while the lights were beginning to come one. The dinner. My mom rented an H3, and we rocked out all the way to Vancouver.

Day Five:
We went to the Buchart Gardens on Victoria Island and spent the day taking in the sheer natural of it all. Wow. We really didn't do all that much today. Well, we may drink, I hope we drink...we'll see how that goes...

Ohhh I love these two. I love this trip. I love Canada.

Peace and Love,

10 Days to Go! [May 18, 2006 @ 2:16pm]
[ mood | excited ]

We are ten days out from the great Canadian journey. Tawnia and I have come up with business card titles, and we have been racking our minds for the past few days trying to come up with Kevin's. It has to be something that gets him just right but leaves a little mystery...have you ever tried to define someone based on guidelines as broad yet specific as those? We are having a hard time. Most of the travel plans are there, we just haven't locked them in yet. We will be taking the train up to Seattle, spending a night there, then onward to Vancouver to take in everything that the great north has to offer. This trip is for me, to visit my number one college choice, The University of British Columbia, Vancouver (UBC). So my mom is funding everything and I am bringing two of my best friends along for the ride. I hope it is everything we could want it to be...I really do.

Peace and Love,
